I was with D Company 1st Engineers while stationed in Germany from 1984 to 1986 as a 12B Combat Engineer. I was in a line Platoon when i first got there then went over to the support platoon, I also filled is as the company photographer and as fuel handler, I logged in more then 1 million miles while there. I have taken many photos of the personal in the company but do not remember names except for a few

Between mortars, rockets, RPGs, booby traps and bullets, there was no safe place in for a soldier in Vietnam.
Remember your Christmas in the Nam? Mine was spent on an ambush patrol near the Cambodian border.

50 years ago today I watched the moon landing from the North Fort Hood Officer's Club. I was asked to run the club for a Texas National Guard unit because we had too many young officers in our 17th Engineer Bn. I had been a bus boy in college, thus I was qualified and selected. Later I was sent off to Diehard in Lai Khe.
